How is the
Virtual Server maintained? |
Maintenance of the Virtual
Server is done completely by the client. We provide you
with full Telnet and FTP access to your Server and access
to the online BWSD Administrator Handbook after you order
has been processed. This Administrator Handbook describes
the configuration files and directory structure of your
Virtual Server.
| 8.2) |
Do I have
shell access to my Virtual Server? |
Yes. Maintenance of your
Virtual Server can be done by both FTP and Telnet. The
login name and password for the shell access is supplied
in the Virtual Server configuration information sent to
you after your Virtual Server order has been processed.
| 8.3) |
How do I get
my web page stats? |
You may use a host of
methods to generate statistics about your web server. You
will have full access to your own logs in a combined or
separate format (access_log, error_log, referer_log,
agent_log). Any software that recognizes these file
formats can be used to generate statistics about your web
site. Examples of client side statistical programs include
WebTrends, a very powerful program with a GUI front end
that runs on any Windows desktop. BWSD supplies access to
several server side statistical programs such as getstats,
mkstats, and analog.
| 8.4) |
Are CGI
scripts provided with the Server? |
Each Server comes with its
own unique cgi-bin directory. In fact, since you have
complete access to your Virtual Server configuration
files, you can create any number of cgi-bin directories on
your Virtual Server. You may install any CGI script or
program on your Virtual Server that you please. BWSD has
several scripts in its CGI Library and Contrib Library
that you may find useful. The BWSD CGI Library can be
found at http://www.web-design.net/CGI/library/
and the BWSD Contrib Library can be found at
http://www.web-design.net/support/contrib/.
| 8.5) |
Can perl or
other scripting languages be used? |
The Virtual Servers come
with Perl4 pre-installed. The latest release of Perl
version 5 is also available. The Servers also come with
TCL/Tk, csh, sh, and other popular UNIX scripting
languages.
